General Information
Unfortunately, young people seeking one to one therapeutic support from 42nd Street in Manchester may experience some delays. It is impossible to accurately predict the exact amount of wait for the service as it fluctuates based on the number of referrals, length of treatment and type of service.
However, we appreciate that young people need to have some idea of their expected wait.
Therefore, currently, if a young person refers to access 42nd Street’s one to one therapeutic services in Manchester we estimate that they can expect to wait between 8 and 19 weeks for an assessment to take place (this assessment is usually telephone based.)
After this assessment has been completed, depending on the outcome of the assessment, the additional wait for ongoing one to one therapeutic services is estimated to be between 19 weeks and 42 weeks, however some will wait for less time and some will wait for more
42nd Street fully appreciates that lengthy waits for a service are not acceptable and we are continuing to work with our partners to do everything that we can to reduce these times. We apologise sincerely for any inconvenience and stress this may cause. Please do contact us on 0161 228 7321 if you need any further information or support.

Further INformation
The long wait for some of our therapeutic services for young people is due to increases in the number of referrals and self-referrals that 42nd Street is receiving which puts pressure on our limited staff team. We recognise that these waiting times are not acceptable and we are doing everything that we can at 42nd Street and in collaboration with partners, commissioners and funders to address them; we know how important it is that young people are able to access the right support, at the right time and in the right place.
There are group and creative opportunities at 42nd Street, open to young people from across Greater Manchester, that it may be possible to access more quickly, these can be found on our projects and activities pages . If you click though to Other Resources you will also find some helpful links to online support, helplines and web-based resources such as the national MindEd programme. Of course we are always here to talk if you have any immediate concerns and there are other services in Manchester that may be able to meet your needs more quickly, so please don’t hesitate to call us on 0161 228 7321 and we will arrange for you to speak with one of our team.
Please feel free to contact me directly on [email protected] if you want to raise any specific issues.
